Prevent Your Trailer From Swaying

Cruising at 55 the trailer was fine, at 57 mph it was a whole different story.

My mom was behind us as the trailer started touching the yellow and white line at very close intervals. She called on our hand held radios that the trailer was swaying. "Yeah no #$(&" was the response.

We accelerated momentarily, then drifted into the center of the two lanes. The semi trucks behind our caravan also merged into the middle and began to slow blocking any cars from trying to pass.

We eventually got it slowed again to 55 and about 20 min later I released the seat cushion.

Both of the WGC I flew in open class I had small cars (for American standards), but they were heavy gliders. Actually the front of the ASW-22 trailer stood above the top of the car.

Both had the anti sway hitch and we never had any problems. We were in km/h so it only seemed like we were going fast.

From the Cobra Manual

4.1 Nose Weight
4.1.1 The nose weight must amount to at least 4 % of the gross weight of the trailer, more than 50 kg are not necessary. A slightly higher nose weight in compliance with the maximum allowed nose weight of the trailer and/or the towing vehicle is generally an advantage.
