How do you prepare for a takeoff? Just wiggle the rudder and as the wing starts to roll, fix it with the aileron, when the spoilers open, close them.
Make sure you are doing the checklist in its entirety. As my Mom likes to say "giving lip service to your checklist." As she enjoys pointing out, especially on the occasional gear-up landing.

Netto vario sometimes called the airmass vario just shows you what the airmass is doing, regardless of your sink rate. So if you are cruising at 100knts, descending at 5knts and the airmass is not moving then it will read 0knts. The Nimbus pilot who will not be named is at it again... I almost feel bad because I charge him shop rates to fix his problems, then he gives me a wealth of material for the newsletter. I received a frantic call that I need to fix the vario in his glider, because it is screwed up, again. Honestly, the computer has had its share of problems and has been back to the factory, installation errors

Normally we all brag about how far we soared. Little brag about how far they have gone while still attached to the towplane. I am sure we do not have the record aerotow, but we have done Warner Springs CA to Red Deer Canada (1,315 miles, 12 hours on tow, one-way), round-trip...twice. Sky Sailing in 1964 bought a new Schweizer 2-32 and a new Super Cub, then flew them across the country to Fremont CA.
