General Description

IMI Tow Bar XXL was designed after the request of Bitterwasser pilots, who had problems with the soft surface of their dried lake airfield. A standard combination of the tow bar for heavy gliders and common tail dolly was not practical, one needs to achieve a lower press at the surface. The Tow Bar XXL is ideal for the combination of very heavy-tailed gliders as a self-launcher open class and rough surface of the airfield.

The Tow bar XXL doesn't stress the tail dolly as much as other types of tow bars but it does take up more space in a car or trailer while not in use. It is delivered with the Heavy Tail Lifting Deice and a new longer M12 axle for the tail dolly.

The Tow Bar XXL forks onto the axle (provided) through the tail dolly wheel and rides on its own beefy 3.00-4 (260X85) air inflate or solid PU tires.

IMI also offers a Tow Bar for Light Gliders as well as a Heavy Tow Bar which is available in 3 different lengths and a reinforced version for the Stemme S10 and S12.

IMI Tow Bar XXL is not recommended with Tail Dollies which have a wheel with suspension.
