General Description

SOTECC MiniBeacon -  Compact. Extremely bright. Energy-efficient. Conventional xenon flash tubes consume an average of around 2700 mA. In contrast, the VAL LED MiniBeacon requires only 350 mA on average and is significantly brighter. Its light output is comparable to, and even higher than, that of the SOTECC strobe for gliders. As with all our VAL products, such as canopy flashers, strobe lights, and ReFit LEDs, the MiniBeacon also uses 12 highly efficient and very bright high-power Cree LEDs. Thanks to modern LED technology, the MiniBeacon is significantly more compact and lighter than conventional xenon flash systems. It measures 62 mm in diameter and 55 mm in height, weighing only 120 g. This visual awareness light emits exclusively red light, ensuring optimal visibility in air traffic.

What is the difference between the Red and White Beaco?

The MiiBeacon features a high-quality aluminum housing with a flatter, more aerodynamic design. It emits both red and white light with increased brightness and can be installed without an adapter plate.

The red and white beacon cannot be mounted on narrow tail surfaces, such as those of the SF25. The MiniBeacon is ideal for these aircraft types. It is also less expensive, but only illuminates in red.

Customizable and Easy to Set Up:

The MiniBeacon can be conveniently set up and monitored via smartphone, without any additional app. Like our other products, this visual awareness light also features an integrated Wi-Fi chip and can be individually configured with just a few clicks. Among other things, the flash frequency can be adjusted to personal requirements. Additionally, the operating status and temperature can be checked directly via your smartphone at any time.

Robust and safe

The MiniBeacon is designed for continuous use in flight operations. It does not interfere with radio communications, and its housing, made of PA12 and plexiglass, offers protection comparable to IP67. This makes the light dustproof and waterproof. The permissible operating temperature range is from -20 °C to +85 °C. Integrated temperature monitoring provides additional safety and can be quickly and easily viewed via smartphone.

Assembly and approval

The unit is mounted using two M3 socket head cap screws. The included waterproof connector is protected by a 3 to 5 amp fuse. An adapter plate, compatible with the existing mounting hole pattern, is included and allows for flexible mounting on all types of tail surfaces, such as narrow tails like those of the SF25 or T-tails like those of the Super Dimona. A manual with detailed instructions for certification is included.
