Grob G 103 Twin Astir

Wabash Valley Soaring Association is selling its Grob Twin Astir. The aircraft is in very good condition and has been kept indoors all its life. Logs complete since new. Was imported by Nutmeg Soaring in 2015 and we bought it shortly thereafter. We bought it because it has a huge useful payload of 479.96 lbs, which is more than any other twin that we were looking at. Seat weight limit is 242 lbs/seat, so you can put a 242 lb pilot in it with a 237 lb. passenger/student. Performance is a bit better than an ASK-21 at a far, far lower price. Retractable gear, with the retract handle in the front seat. There is no gear handle in the back seat, but if there is any doubt about the front seat passenger's ability to operate the gear, we just leave it down. There are two LXNAV S3s in it, front and back, and the back is a separate unit, not a repeater from the front. CG hook has been disconnected but could be hooked up again. We didn't see a reason to put uses on it since we only do aerotow at our club. There is a bit of cosmetic damage to the gelcoat on the lower nose where the aircraft was jacked up improperly. The glider comes with a Langenfeld metal-sided trailer that works very well and has also been stored inside. There are also two wing riggers that our club's handyman made and they work very well. One of them is motorized. This is a very nice flying glider that makes a good cross-country machine and works very well as a trainer for heavier pilots. We are selling the Grob because we would like to invest the money into another tow plane. $65,000 obo.
