Motivated seller for a VERY affordable way to start soaring as this aircraft needs nothing to keep you flying. A roomy cockpit, L/D of 34:1, and in excellent condition. I did my Silver C duration in this aircraft with a 5 hour 20 min flight.
1974 Siebert SIE-3, factory built in Germany and then went to the Netherlands. The Siebert is a further development of the Ka6E model which includes an all-flying tail but much larger canopy increasing visibility over the Ka6cr and e models. Flight characteristics and performance is similar to the Ka6e model. This glider was technician rebuilt sometime in the 1990's before being imported into the US in May of 2000 as an Experimental glider. I have complete logbooks, the ones prior to import are in German and the remaining are in English. Annual conditional inspection just conducted in Aug 2021 with a Total Time of 869.3 hours. Basic instrumentation, Winter Altimeter and vario, LEC SB7 audio vario, and total energy system.
Complete ground handling, wing rigger, tow bar, wing wheel, indoor hangar and canopy covers included. Covered and insulated trailer is in good shape and ready to transport. Documentation includes complete logbooks, import documents, complete plans in PDF on CD and some printed to full size, POH in both printed and PDF.
Pilot weight ranges 121 - 242 lbs. The wing is Wortmann FX-61-184 wing profile which is the same as used by the DG100 and has a published L/D of 34.2 at 48.5 knots (90 Kph).
Trailer is in good condition and serviceable. It's watertight, insulated, and has ventilation. The trailer is custom fitted to this plane and has come over from Europe with the craft.
Glider is hangered at KSEY (Seymour Municipal Airport in Indiana). More pictures and details are available on request. Price is somewhat negotiable.
The glider is a pleasure to fly, has great visibility, roomy cockpit, in great condition, and gorgeous to look at. It's a great ship to build time in with a low entry and maintenance cost with decent performance. I would like for it to go to a good home and caretaker.
