The time has come. Tariffs are potentially making new gliders prohibitively expensive for most of us, so used gliders, already in the US, are becoming more in demand, especially those that are in top condition and can be converted to something special. To wit: Schempp-Hirth has a retrofit kit in design for converting the V-2cxT’s to electric self-launcher. While they don’t yet have a date for this, they are well into the design stage. What I’ve been told is that this model glider is going up in price in Europe as the demand for electric is greater than in the USA due to noise requirements. So, I’ll wax poetic about this glider. This is a premium V-2cxT, so premium asking price, which goes along with its condition, upgraded panel, and nice Cobra trailer with undercarriage drawer and capacious front storage. These are sweet handling gliders with long legs for cross country. For the odd and ends: The glider comes with 2 sets of covers – suncap and soft. The rigging gear includes – IMI power wing rigger, SoaringXX wing wheel, IMI locking tail dolly, and MM tow bar (this is a killer combination for those who must rig for each flight). There is a mélange of spare parts, tires, tubes. Comes with MH O2 system. There is an ELT as well. For the engine: The Solo 2350 sustainer engine has been 100% reliable to date. Haven’t had to use it for a self-retrieve (thanks, 50/1), but have air started it numerous times with no issues. Refuel system with gas can included. Condition: After purchase, all wing pushrods (water system, spoilers, ailerons) were pulled for inspection and refurbishment, as well as bellows replaced, to ensure water tightness. Rudder cables and tail water valve cable were replaced due to urine corrosion at the tail. (There is an overboard relief system, but I use bags to avoid the corrosion.) Inspection windows were added in the wing underside to make future annuals easier. No MDH, and those nicks that occur on occasion are repaired as they happen. PU paint in great condition. The water ballast system works great. Some hairline cracks around engine bay doors, which are normal for the design and not structural. Panel with upgrades: I added the LXNav S-100 to the panel to pair with an Oudie N IGC (which can be included). Also added were the Air Avionics AC-1 transceiver with an ADC-57 controller. The transponder is a TRIG TT22 with ADS-B Out. The altimeter is an ADI-57 with ASI (plus Winter ASI). Has a PowerFLARM Fusion with A and B antennas. To cap it off, all the behind the panel tubing was redone with color coded tubing for ease of identification and trace. Overall, a very complete glider with great performance and condition.
