SOTECC Strobe

Sotecc Strobe

See and Avoid

General Description

SOTECC Strobe - 16 LEDs Extreme Visibility Sotecch enables a new level of visibility. With its 16 built-in powerful yet energy-efficient LEDs, the SOTECC strobe is a real asset in airspace surveillance. It also offers the option of integration into the existing canopy strobes connectBOX system. After a nearly two-year testing phase, we are satisfied with the performance demonstrated, and a considerable number of strobes have already been delivered.

15mm Height - small, bright and aerodynamic - SOTECC Strobe fits almost any glider imaginable. Mounted on the fuselage or underside of the aircraft, it looks great and provides all-round visibility. At just 15 mm high, it's the optimal combination of safety and aerodynamics. Installation complies with EASA specifications and is quick and easy. Our documentation contains all the necessary information.

Plug & Play - The SOTECC strobe comes with pre-assembled connectors and the correct cable lengths, as well as all the necessary connections. Installation in the glider can be done using screws or the extremely strong 3M adhesive tape laser-cut by SOTECC. Additional images and installation examples can be found in the photo gallery above.

Sotecc Strobe is a special order item. Please allow approximately 4 weeks for delivery.

I would like to install the SOTECC Strobe in my glider, but I'm concerned abuot the power consumption?

Due to the newly developed, intelligent control unit and the built-in modern LED technology, the power consumption cannot be compared with anti-collision lights that are known from motorized aircraft.

I'm not very tech savvy. Is it difficult to install the SOTECC strobe?

Thanks to the included, detailed installation instructions with many pictures, installation is not complicated. If you have any questions about the installation, we will of course be happy to help.

What tools are required for installation?

You can find a detailed list in the installation instructions.

Are there any colors other than red?

Yes, the LEDs are still available in white. However, it should be noted that the color red means danger and is quickly perceived by the human eye. It is also a contrast to the mostly white gliders. Our flight tests quickly showed that we will equip the SOTECC strobe with red CREE® LEDs as standard.

Installation - In addition to the installation position recommended by SOTECC on the bottom and/or top of the hull, there are a variety of other installation options:

  • On the Nose of the FUselage
  • On the Tail Unit
  • On the Outside of the Winglets

40 Hours Operating Time With One Battery: The question of power consumption often arises when it comes to electronic devices in gliders. Until not so long ago, ACL systems were reserved only for motor-powered aircraft, as these could generate power using alternators. Typically, they used incandescent bulbs, which could only be operated on a battery for a very short time, if at all. The development of LEDs ( light-emitting diodes ) makes it possible to use anti-collision lights with battery power, even during very long flights. Our example shows the operating time of our strobe connected to a standard 10 Ah glider battery.

* without warnings and other connected current consumers

*NOTE: The SOTECC strobe is supplied with open cable ends as standard. Depending on the installation location and aircraft type, the cable length may need to be adjusted. The cable is supplied without connectors.
