This 1978, IS-28B2 (Lark), Two seat glider, needs some work in order to fly again. Last time was flown was 2012. This Lark had one owner since new, and has only 1060 hours total time. The Lark is all painted, aluminum construction except the rudder, ailerons and elevator,– which are fabric, and will need to be recovered. The Canopy has a few small cracks but, it is in one piece; The A&P said that the canopy can either be repaired or, a new canopy can be made using the old one for mold. It spent its entire life in the Southern California desert, and It is corrosion free. (it is still in CA) All the control rods, pulleys, bolts, pins, and anything metal, are in very good condition. The wings, fuselage all control surfaces are straight and damage free. The retractable landing gear structure is damage free and in working condition. This lark has flaps – including negative flaps and, the glide ratio is 34:1. The trailer is in good shape; It has an ingenious hand-pulley system on a swinging boom, for lifting the wings on and off the trailer (for assembly or, transport). I think the trailer alone is worth the money I’m asking and I will consider keeping it if you don’t want it. I fell in love with this glider when I saw how exceptionally sturdy and well-built it is but, It requires more time/work than I can spare at the moment. The Glider is currently registered in my name and I do have the original Airworthiness certificate (S/N 34)., as well as operation, maintenance and parts manuals. This Lark is a Certified aircraft, meaning that it can be used commercially i.e. paying for training in a club or, school situation. This would be a very good glider for a club or, just as good for a one person flying it (which was the case with the original owner). Note: According to the old, original Manufacturer’s manual, the IS 28Bs is currently out of the 35 Years life service limit. The current Type Certificate Holder extends the service life indefinitely, based on purchasing the STC 10054289 sold by them – The Aeroclub Of Romania (Type certificate # EASA A.453) – the current Type Certificate Owner. HOWEVER, If you are flying this glider in the US: The FAA states that for the Standard category aircraft the service life limit does not apply in the US I have the signed Letter from the FAA referring specifically to the IS 28B2.
