Glasflugel 206 Hornet

Hornet-C (Carbon Hornet) standard / club-class sailplane. It is one of two Carbon Hornets known to be in North American. Carbon Hornets represent about the last 25% of the total Hornet production and feature the carbon fiber wing and a forward hinged canopy. Wing panels only weigh about 130 lbs. Prior to our ownership, 7VF was owned by the late Tim Mara, the founder of Wings and Wheels. It is a delight to fly and has the innovation of trailing-edge dive brakes, which are amazingly effective and keep the wing clean of spoiler boxes & panels. The trailing-edge dive brakes, in addition to increasing drag, also have a slight flap effect, lowering stall speed for landing to 40 mph. All control hookups are automatic. In addition to a CG hook, this Hornet-C has the optional nose hook providing for increased directional control, particularly with a cross winds. The panel was meticulously rebuilt by Tim Mara in 2012 using a new blank panel from Streifeneder  and is very high quality work. A new Fl 760 radio was installed then. It has an LX7000 flight computer with PDA outputs installed and ram mount for a PDA. The LX7000 has moving map and every kind of data you could ask for and outstanding variometer  functions. The.other mechanical instruments were either new or overhauled when Tim did the panel in 2012. The glider has a a very large battery. The canopy is tinted and a canopy cover is included. The finish of the wings, tail, and fuselage is in amazingly good condition. There is a visible repair done by Tim of some cosmetic damage on the left side of the cockpit & left wingtip due to an encounter with a runway light. Included is a set of cotton inside covers for the entire sailplane.
