1967 Phoebus B1. This glider is in rough shape and likely destined for scrap but if anyone wanted the whole thing, or some key parts, it could probably be arranged. It was abandoned at our gliderport and we want to get it out of here.
It was originally flying in Hawaii. In the late 1990's it was shipped to Colorado and flown for several years and then left in the trailer for a few more years. In 2011 it was sold to a Phoebus owner in MN/WI who needed only the canopy (it was never flown). It has been in a leaky trailer for the past ~15 years and never rigged or flown. There is water and rodent damage and it smells of urine. The gear seems to be in fairly good shape, but the tail, wings and fuselage have been very wet. There are no instruments. There are two canopy frames--one has no plexiglas, and the other has a badly cracked glass.
The trailer is home made and not easy to convert to another glider. It rigs from the hitch end, and the big end faces forward. There is a rolling suspension system for the fuselage. The aluminum skin is leaking in many places and needs replacing. The trailer steel structure seems solid and the tires were new 11 years ago.
Leave a message and let's see if any of this can or should be saved.
