Good single-pilot resource management (SRM) is comprised of six basic tenets: aeronautical decision making, risk management, task management, situational awareness, CFIT awareness, and automation management. Although these areas may not be specifically addressed under each PTS task, they are essential to flight safety and will be critically evaluated during your FAA oral and practical test. Download a set of questions and answers covering single-pilot resource management.

The complete, unexcerpted FAA document entitled “FAA Instrument Proficiency Check Guidance” includes additional tools to help pilots prepare for their IPC.
