Located in Eagle, Colorado, this Pipistrel Taurus 503 is a two-seat, side-by-side, self-launching motorglider. It is powered by a 50 hp Rotax 503 two-stroke, two-cylinder engine which fully retracts into the fuselage. The engine was replaced in April of 2025 with a brand new engine from Pipistrel and has only 32 hours on it. It has very comfortable side by side seating. It has a double retractable main landing gear and a steerable tail wheel, allowing for ground maneuverability similar to a standard taildragger airplane. It has 15 meter wings with automatic hook ups for the flapperons and spoilers. With a glide ratio of 41:1 it is a delight to fly with very docile stall characteristics. It has a Worboro altitude-compensating carburetor and climbs at 400 feet per minute at 6500 feet. It has a ballistic parachute. Although it is noisier than the new electrics, the 8 gallon tank will power it for 2 hours with reserve (3 gal per hour), allowing for many climbs to altitude plus retrieve potential. I am a CFIG and can help you with a self-launch endorsement.
