WX SpeedCoat
WX SpeedCoat
General Description
WX SpeedCoat - has WX Block chemistry which features the latest nanotechnology. It enhances the gloss and longevity of the sailplane gel coat and painted finishes. This premium finish protection contains maximum levels of UV protection and anti–static surfacing agent finishes. WX SpeedCoat helps maintain a high level of sailplane gel coat integrity by reducing the effects of environmental exposure.

WX SpeedCoat Outshines the Rest
Achieving a high level of gloss comes from cleaning and surface micro–sealing. Improvement in visible gloss is a result of nanoscale contouring for a micro–smooth finish. Try the “hand test” – Apply WX SpeedCoat to a small section, then drag your hand across the area. You’ll feel the difference and so will your gel coat.
Gel Coat and the Sun
Sailplane finishes exposed to the sun are under attack by ultraviolet solar radiation. Gel coats undergo chemical processes called photoinitiation and photo–oxidation. This process causes chemical unwanted changes in a micro–thin surface layer of the gel coat. Photo–oxidation degrades surface molecules. Sunlight and reactive atmospheric conditions yellow and embrittle gel coat. Traditional hard wax or consumer-type waxes will polish the gel coat. However, their UV protection is limited or non–existent. WX SpeedCoat’s solution is to provide long-lasting active UV protection.
Handling
Harmful or fatal if swallowed. Keep out of reach of children. Contains petroleum distillates, avoid prolonged contact with skin or breathing vapor. If accidentally swallowed call a physician. Do not induce vomiting.
Application
Shake the bottle well to ensure complete mixing. Spray WX SpeedCoat onto the surface. Spread into a thin, uniform film with a clean non-synthetic rag. Inspect the surface from different angles to ensure complete coverage. Allow several minutes to dry. WX SpeedCoat is then easily hand-polished to a high gloss finish. If a second coating is desired for maximum protection, allow 30–60 minutes between applications, depending on temperature and humidity. Several extra coats on the leading edge reduce future bug impact buildup.
Caution! Test colored lacquer-based accent stripe areas for color fastness. WX SpeedCoat creates a slippery surface. Handle aircraft components with care.
Nanotechnology Improves Performance
Nanoscale particles in WX SpeedCoat improves smoothing and levels microscopic inconsistencies on gel coat surfaces. Leveling of surface topography results in a higher gloss and better sealing of microporosity present in all gel coat finishes. Nanoscale formulation improves the reflectivity of gel coat surfaces, giving increased gloss, and better retention of active UV suppression.
Storage
Store at Room temperature between 33° F and 90° F. DO NOT allow to freeze! Insulated shipping bags can be purchased to protect WX SpeedCoat during shipping! Keep the lid tightly sealed. Avoid moisture contamination. Use only as recommended.
