General Description

Rope Splicing Fid (3 Pack) - quickly and easily splice braided, hollow and twisted ropes. Helps run the end of a tow rope back through the rope when attaching tow rings.

Simple Eye Splicing

• Insert one end of rope into splicing fid.
• Select point where splice is to begin. Determine the size of the eye and take 6″ more rope. Insert tapered end of fid between the strands at this point.
• Guide the fid down the hollow center of the rope. Push fid with right hand while using left hand to work the rope over the fid.
• Bring fid out between two strands 6″ to 8″ below starting point.
• Remove the fid from the rope. Draw hand over splice to smooth and tighten splice.
• For maximum security the splice should be stitched using a needle and heavy nylon polyethylene or polypropylene twine.
