This is a nice looking, sweet flying glider. I bought it in June, 2015 and have flown 73 flights; total 74 hours. Eighteen of these flights were X-country: 11 flights of 1-2 hrs; 5 flights of 2-3 hrs; 2 flights of 3-4 hrs. The log shows vertical fin repair in 1995 (done by Mansbergaircraft, Minden, NV) with thorough post repair flight check (loops, stalls, spins). It has flown solidly for me.
Weight range is 166-255 lbs. Empty wt. 296 lbs. The AC4 compares very well with the Polish PW5 called the Little Rascal, a highly competitive, and more expensive ship. Compare them on Youtube. For price, fun and performance (my kind of flying), the AC4 is the one, but it not as competitive as the PW5. They're both very fine ships.
I recommend your reading Richard H Johnson's Revue of the AC4 in Soaring Magazine, June 1997 issue, page 30.
I'm 75 and selling it to go into partnership on another glider, and will keep flying it until it sells.
