Stemme S 10

The Stemme S 10-V is a top of the line touring motorglider. This high performance 2 place comfortable side-by-side sailplane is excellent for cross-country soaring or touring. Wheel your motorglider in and out of a standard hanger where the unique folding wing system lets you fold the wing from its full 23 m (75.5 ft) wingspan down to a standard 11.4 m (36.5 ft) wingspan for hanger storage. The second innovation is the unique variable pitch folding propeller system whose blades automatically extend at engine start and retract on shutdown to hide underneath the streamlined propeller dome which is pulled shut. The advantages are enormous with no propeller blades hanging in the breeze and no engine pylon to retract. The electrically-driven landing gear system (with manual backup) retracts the high-standing landing gear and steerable tail wheel for perfect streamlining in glider mode for a maximum glide ratio of 50 to 1 at 56 kts/1874 lbs. Schemmp-Hirth spoilers, flaps, and full-span ailerons provide a wide rangs of soaring performance control. The S 10-V also features a two speed variable pitch propeller for both efficient climb and cruise settings. In take-off/climb mode and full power a climb rate of 610 fpm gets you to your soaring lift within minutes. If you need to go somewhere under power, the cruise setting lets you throttle back to enjoy the ride and the sightseeing through the enormous canopy while typically sipping 3.7 gals/hour at 120 kts from two 11 gallon fuel tanks. If your tour takes you into the sunset, no problem! This S 10-V is equipped with a landing light, position lights, and anti-collision lights. This motorglider has always had a hanger for its home and is ready for you to fly to fly it to your home with all Airworthiness Directives and all time-limited parts replacements up-to-date. This motorglider is not affected by a recent AD which has temporarily grounded newer S10 VT and S12 models. Price includes a spare set of Limbach factory new cylinders and piston assemblies.
